hesitant to share hope

    dimly lit church, stained glass window stands out,
    some colours strongly sing, others joyfully shout;
    I see Jesus robed gripping crook, cradling lamb:
    he walks out of window, confidently saying: I am.

    looking round, he randomly walks among pews:
    holed hands heal our pains, none will he refuse;
    will we welcome his upside down dreams?
    will we overturn our selfish fascist regimes?

    once hoped holy words, also uttered ardent prayers,
    faith portfolio now merely holds *preferred shares;
    evangelical outlier watching from mission margins:
    hesitant to share God’s hope, reluctant to barge in…

    stock whose holders are guaranteed priority in the payment of dividends ….but whose holders have no voting rights
